Winter is the time conifers shine in the landscape. Our Southeast Region experienced a late fall last year and many of us were on the dry side so fall color from deciduous trees was not as brilliant. Bring on the conifers! Their time to shine in the landscape, unshared, is upon us. For those of you in the deep south and down to southern Florida, your show is different but I hope as spectacular.
Let’s send a hearty congratulations to our newest ACS Reference Gardens, Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina and Lockerly Arboretum in Georgia! We should be so proud of our Southeast Region; it is a standout when it comes to ACS Reference Gardens. ACS-SE contains the greatest number of Reference Gardens of all the regions, and is home to its dynamic champion, Barbie Colvin. Keep up the great work.
A great gift is to sponsor an ACS membership for a friend or family member. It is always the right size and the right color. Sometimes it is the kind offering that can nudge a burgeoning conehead to become a full participant in our great group. What a wonderful legacy to give.
Finally, it is time to make plans for the next ACS-SE regional meeting. Southern Kentucky is beautiful any time of year but June stands out. Please read more about our meeting on the SE Region Events page.
